Reason for today's semiconductor surge: liquidation of situational awareness | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The fund called Situational Awareness, founded by Leopold Aschenbrenner, a 20-something former OpenAI employee, was previously mentioned in this stock forum. It is reported that news reached the stock market this morning that they liquidated (were forced to liquidate) their 4x leveraged semiconductor position. This fund operated a massive 4x leveraged position focused solely on semiconductors ($45 billion in scale) while holding a short position in software, riding high throughout this year. However, as semiconductor stocks dropped a bit this month, their 4x leverage position faced margin calls from their financiers, such as Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, exerting immense downward pressure on the stock market and triggering a crash. However, the situation was reportedly brought to an end as the fund transferred all its positions to another hedge fund through a block deal. Even so, the fund reportedly kept its unlisted positions, such as Anthropic, intact. While no one can know the exact reasons behind the market's ups and downs, I am posting this as it seems to be cited as a compelling reason for the sharp rally.
